How to redeem a physical gift card on Simphony POS

Redeeming a physical gift card through your Simphony POS system

This guide will show you how to find and redeem a physical gift card using the VoucherCart app on your Simphony POS system.

This guide assumes Oracle Simphony POS has been connected to your VoucherCart account. If your account has not been connected and you would like to connect Simphony POS to your account please get in touch with our team at help@vouchercart.com

Search for a Physical Card to redeem

NB: You cannot redeem a voucher or gift card on an empty check. You must first add products to the check. Additionally, a voucher or gift card can only be used to cover the total outstanding balance on the check (single-use vouchers will not produce a credit on the check).

1. Open the VoucherCart app on your Simphony POS. This is likely to be configured as a button on your PAY screen (although the exact location on your till may differ). If you are not sure, please check with your Simphony POS administrator.

2. Once in the VoucherCart app, you can search for the product to be redeemed either by scanning the QR code presented on the back of the physical card or by manually entering the card ID in the redeem code field.

3. To scan the QR code with a compatible scanner, tap 'Scan product redeem code'. The system will wait for the POS user to provide input via the scanner. The POS user can tap 'Close' to return to the previous screen.

4. To enter the redeem code manually, tap the 'Redeem code' field. You will be presented with an on-screen keyboard to enter the code. Once you have finished entering the code, press 'OK'.

Redeeming a physical card

After you have scanned or entered the Card ID, you will be directed to the Card details page. This page provides key information about the cardholder and the products loaded to the card.

The list of products loaded to the card can be sorted by product name, purchase date, or status. Simply tap on the column header to sort by that column.

1. To redeem a product from the card, find the required product from the list and tap 'Details'.

This will bring you to the product details page. This page provides key information about the product, including its redemption status, validity period, current value, and redemption type (single-use or multi-use).

Additionally, the product details page includes a redemption history section, which records all redemption actions throughout the product's lifetime. This history shows who performed each action, when and where it was carried out, and the redeemed or unredeemed value or quantity.

To return to the product details page, tap 'Back'

2. To redeem the product, tap the 'Redeem' button to navigate to the redemption screen.

3. On this screen, enter the value or quantity you wish to redeem by tapping the input field and providing the amount the voucher holder wishes to use for this transaction.

4. This will take you to the POS screen to enter the value to be redeemed.

5. Alternatively, you can tap the 'Apply Max' button to automatically apply the highest redeemable amount, up to either the total voucher value or the available check balance, whichever is lower.

6. When you are ready, tap 'Redeem' to add the value to the check.

7. You will be shown a confirmation of the redemption and will have the option to return to the app homepage or return to the till (closes the app).

8. The value of the voucher will be applied to the check as payment.
