This article covers how to create a ResDiary service that matches one of your experience vouchers and link it from the voucher's redemption instructions. Once set up, guests can book their visit directly using their voucher code, without needing to contact your team first.
Why link a ResDiary service to your vouchers?
Many experience vouchers are for a specific product, menu or experience rather than simply a monetary value:
Afternoon tea
Tasting menus
Dining packages
Cocktail masterclasses
Seasonal offers
Special occasion packages
Creating a matching ResDiary service and linking it from your voucher booking instructions gives guests a much clearer booking journey. Instead of contacting you to explain what they've purchased, they can:
Open their voucher and review T&Cs or redemption instructions
Follow the ResDiary booking link
Select the correct experience
Enter their voucher code
Arrive ready to enjoy their visit

The best voucher journeys start by creating the booking experience first, then linking the voucher directly to that experience.
How this fits together
Your VoucherCart voucher represents the experience the guest has purchased. Your ResDiary service provides the booking journey. Together, they create a smoother guest experience:
Stage | What Happens |
VoucherCart | Guest purchases or receives a voucher |
Voucher redemption instructions/description/Terms and Conditions | Guest is directed to the correct ResDiary Service |
ResDiary | Guest books their experience and provides their details |
Step 1: Create your experience as a ResDiary service
For each experience voucher you sell through VoucherCart, create a matching service in ResDiary.
Examples:
VoucherCart Product | ResDiary Service |
Afternoon Tea for Two | Afternoon Tea Voucher Experience |
3 Courses and A Cocktail for 2 | 3 Courses and A Cocktail Voucher Experience |
Tasting Menu Experience | Tasting Menu Voucher Experience |
The clearer the service name, the easier it is for guests to understand they're booking the experience they've received.
For guidance on creating services in ResDiary, see the official Access ResDiary guide:
Step 2: Match your booking availability to the voucher terms
Your ResDiary service should match the terms of your VoucherCart product.
For example:
VoucherCart product terms | ResDiary Service Availability |
Valid Sunday - Thursday | Available Sunday - Thursday only |
You may also want to consider:
Available booking times
Seasonal restrictions
Blackout dates
Party sizes
Any additional charges or supplements
This helps avoid guests booking times that don't match the voucher they've received.
Step 3: Add the ResDiary booking link to your voucher description/Terms and Conditions
Once your ResDiary service has been created, copy the booking URL for that specific service. Add this URL to the Terms and Conditions field for your VoucherCart product, so guests see clear instructions when viewing their voucher and can go directly to the correct booking journey.
For example, your Terms & Conditions text could read:
Your gift voucher must be booked using this link:
[Insert ResDiary booking link]
When booking, please enter your voucher code.
By linking directly to the relevant ResDiary service, your guest doesn't need to search for the correct experience or contact your team to ask how to redeem their voucher.
Step 4: Ask guests for their voucher code at booking
We recommend asking guests to provide their VoucherCart voucher code when making their booking. This can be captured in an available booking field, or in ResDiary's booking notes — for example, a field labelled “Voucher code: XXXXXXXXX”.
This helps your team identify voucher bookings before the guest arrives and makes redemption easier to manage.
Please note:
The booking does not automatically redeem the voucher in your VoucherCart account. You must still complete this step using the Dashboard, Redeem App, or your POS integration (if connected).
A better experience for everyone
Creating dedicated ResDiary services for your VoucherCart experiences helps:
Guests | Your Team |
Know exactly what they've booked | Know which bookings relate to vouchers |
Have a simple redemption journey | Reduce manual questions |
Avoid contacting the venue unnecessarily | Deliver a smoother guest experience |
A voucher is not just a payment method — it's an experience waiting to happen. A clear booking journey is an important part of delivering that experience.
