This guide shows you how to find and redeem a voucher product using the VoucherCart app on your Lightspeed POS.
This guide assumes Lightspeed has been connected to your VoucherCart account. If your account has not been connected and you need help connecting Lightspeed POS to your account, please get in touch with our team at help@vouchercart.com.
Search for a product to redeem
NB: You cannot redeem a voucher or gift card product on an zero balance check. a voucher or gift card can only be used to cover the total outstanding balance on the check (single-use products will not produce a credit on the check).
1. Open the VoucherCart app on your Lightspeed POS. This is likely to be configured as a menu button although the exact location will be specific to your POS configuration. If you are not sure, please check with your Lightspeed POS administrator.
2. Once in the VoucherCart app, you can search for the product to be redeemed either by scanning the QR code presented on the product or manually entering the redeem code.
3. To scan the QR code with the device's built-in camera, tap 'Scan product redeem code'. The system will wait for the POS user to provide input via the QR code scanner. The POS user can tap 'Close' to return to the previous screen.
4. To enter the redeem code manually or to scan the QR code with a connected barcode scanner, tap the 'Redeem code' field. You will be presented with an on-screen keyboard to manually type the code or use a connected barcode scanner. Once you have finished entering the ID tap the return key or close the keyboard. Then tap 'Search'.
Redeeming a product
After you have scanned or entered the product redeem code, you will be directed to the product details page. This page provides key information about the product, including its redemption status, validity period, current value, and redemption type (single-use or multi-use).
The product details page also includes a redemption history section, which records all redemption actions throughout the product's lifetime (including cancelled redemptions). This history shows who performed each action, when and where it was carried out, and the redeemed or unredeemed value/quantity.
To return to the product details page, tap 'Back'
1. To redeem the product, tap the 'Redeem' button to navigate to the redemption screen.
2. On this screen, enter the value or quantity you wish to redeem by tapping the input field and providing the amount the customer wishes to use for this transaction.
3. Alternatively, you can tap the 'Apply Max' button to automatically apply the highest redeemable amount, up to either the total product value or the available check balance, whichever is lower.
4. Tap 'Redeem' to add the value to the check.
5. You will be shown a confirmation of the redemption and will have the option to return to the app homepage or return to the till (this closes the app)
6. The value of the product is applied to the check as a payment. The check will automatically close if the redemption equals the total outstanding balance on the cheque.
