This guide shows you how to sell a physical gift card product using the VoucherCart app on your Lightspeed POS.
This guide assumes Lightspeed has been connected to your VoucherCart account. If your account has not been connected and you need help connecting Lightspeed POS to your account, please get in touch with our team at help@vouchercart.com.
Sell a voucher product as a physical gift card
1. Open the VoucherCart app on your Lightspeed POS. This is likely to be configured as a menu button although the exact location will be specific to your POS configuration. If you are not sure, please check with your Lightspeed POS administrator.
2. Tap 'Sell a new product', this will take you to the sell a product screen. This screen displays your sellable voucher products as set up in your VoucherCart account.
3. You can filter products by sales page (If your account has more than one sales page), redeemable locations and categories.
4. To sort products in the list by product name, tap on the column header to sort by that column.
5. To select a product to sell, tap 'More Info', this will take you to the product details page, where you can see a detailed description of the selected product.
6. Select the product price option, or if this is a flexible monetary voucher product, you can either select a monetary denomination from the list or tap in the value field to provide a custom value.
7. Tap 'Continue' to proceed to delivery method.
8. Tap 'Issue now (physical card)'.
You will now be presented with 2 options, either 'Scan the QR code on the reverse of the card to be loaded' or 'Enter the ID of the card to be loaded'.
9a. To scan the QR code with the device's built-in camera, tap 'Scan the QR code on the reverse of the card to be loaded'. The system will wait for the POS user to provide input via the QR code scanner. The POS user can tap 'Close' to return to the previous screen.
9b. To enter the Card ID manually or to scan the QR code with a connected barcode scanner, tap the text field. You will be presented with an on-screen keyboard to manually type the code or use a connected barcode scanner. Once you have finished entering the ID tap the return key or close the keyboard. Then tap 'Search'.
10. Enter the buyer's information in the fields provided: first name, last name, email address and phone number (optional)
You are now asked 'Give this as a gift?'.
Selecting Yes will allow the buyer to provide their recipient's details.
Selecting No means the buyer will be the user of the card and as such no recipient information will be taken for this order.
For the purposes of this example, the card is a gift to a different recipient.
11. On Give as a gift? tap 'Yes'
12. Ask the buyer if they consent to receiving marketing communications; if yes, tap the toggle to on.
13. Tap 'Continue'
14. Enter the recipient's information in the fields provided: first name, last name and email (optional)
Fast sale feature: When enabled, the Fast Sale feature allows staff members to skip entering buyer and recipient information during checkout. If you'd like to use this streamlined flow, please contact us and we’ll enable it for you.
15. Now tap 'Order Summary' to review the order
The order summary page will give you a summary of the order so that you can confirm any details with the buyer and check for any grammar or spelling errors before the order is placed and the product is added to the check for payment.
16. Once the order has been reviewed tap 'Add product to check' to generate the order and add the product to the check for payment.
The VoucherCart system will generate the voucher order but it will NOT be visible in your dashboard nor will any emails be sent to the buyer or recipient until the transaction has been marked as paid.
17. You will be shown confirmation that the product has been added to the check and can now either 'Sell a new voucher or gift card' or 'Return to the till' (this closes the app).
18. The voucher product has been added to the check. Payment should now be taken from the buyer for the amount shown to complete the purchase.
